You’ve selected your bridesmaids dresses and bouquets. Now that you’ve got a color scheme, it’s time to think about decorations for your wedding ceremony and reception. You have a number of choices depending on your taste, decorating ability and budget.
Professional decorators are available who can handle all the duties themselves, from actually creating the decorations (centerpieces, etc.) to preparing tables for the reception and cleaning them up. This option can be more expensive, but it’s one less thing to worry about on the big day.
If you work with a florist to prepare arrangements and decorations, you’ll need to clarify who’ll handle setup and removal. Some florists will do this, others will not.
If you have responsible people you can rely on, you may want to handle the decorating yourself. It’s important to remember that you may not have much time to get decorations up and ready.
Sometimes you’ll only have a few minutes to set up before the wedding party arrives and a few minutes to take decorations down once the ceremony is over. If you go this route, try to think simple and look for decorations that can be prepared ahead of time and easily put into place.
You many also want to recruit people other than those in the wedding party to decorate reception tables, since these table often aren’t ready for decorating until close to the time of the reception. Those in your wedding party will have enough to do without rushing to complete the decorating tasks. |
